Summary

Works collaboratively establishing, maintaining, and creating partnerships with key community stakeholders within the Gift of Hope donor service area to include educational, religious, civic and social organizations to increase organ and tissue donation registration and education.

 

Compensation range for this position is $67,000 - $75,500 annually

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

The following essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Advance Gift of Hope’s mission, vision and core values:  providing compassionate service, contributing to outstanding teams and engaging as one of our passionate people committed to a positive culture that respects the dignity and worth of each individual. Adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
  • Act as an expert in identifying, developing, and strategizing with key community stakeholders; deepening relationships and ongoing partnerships with educational, religious, civic, and social organizations to increase awareness of, and support for, organ and tissue donation
  • In conjunction with Manager, Community Outreach and Governmental Relations, seek and maintain visible position with local and state medical associations, departments and committees to highlight issues related to organ and tissue donation
  • In conjunction with the Supervisor, Ambassador Program, direct and oversee the activities of Ambassadors for Hope volunteers; coordinate their efforts to promote organ and tissue donation within all communities; encourage attendance/support of programs sponsored by Gift of Hope and support marketing and communication opportunities
  • Continually identify and drive new opportunities and lead the execution with partners and foster continuous communication; actively participate in internal and external committee meetings and community coalitions
  • Complete a minimum of eight (8) community engagements per month
  • Develop one (1) signature event per year
  • Develop and execute special events and programs to increase overall public awareness and increase registration rates in the donor service area, foster participation of Ambassadors for Hope volunteer members and Gift of Hope staff
  • In collaboration with Manager, Community Outreach and Governmental Relations or Community Outreach Program Lead, use data to interpret, develop and implement strategies and programs to impact donor registration
  • Work collaboratively to strategize with the Donation & Family Advocates, Donation Coordinators and Donation Liaisons to develop hospital community outreach programs for signature events and participate in donation committees
  • Contribute to the monthly newsletter and social media platforms focusing content as it relates to area of expertise; assist in maintaining information on Gift of Hope website
  • Precepting responsibilities for new team members
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Training Required

The following identifies the minimum education and training required to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Bachelor’s degree in community relations, business, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

 

Experience and Skills Required

The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • 5 years’ experience in community relations or not-for-profit public relations, preferably in a healthcare environment 
  • Experience developing community-based programs and events
  • Ability to influence support for organ and tissue donation
  • Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Salesforce
