Overview

Assists Medical Technologists with day-to-day duties to maintain the overall operation of the laboratory.  This is a part time position, 20-24 hours per week

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

The following essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Support Gift of Hope’s mission, vision and values; adhere to its policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position
  • Demonstrate support for our mission through annual participation in a donor family event
  • Wash laboratory glassware
  • File genetic samples in the ultra-low temperature freezers according to their storage numbers
  • File records
  • Prepare mailers (tubes, labels and dialysis lists) to dialysis centers and patient homes for collection of monthly samples
  • Prepare vials for aliquoting the blood samples
  • Label and oil the micro titer trays
  • Clean laboratory counters
  • Disinfect centrifuges and incubator
  • Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory and mailing supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Training Required

  • Current or previous enrollment in a science-related course of study

 

 

 

Experience and Skills Required

The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Familiarity with laboratory software
  • Basic skills in Excel and Word
  • Ability to work scheduled hours

  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend and kneel to perform job functions

  • Required to use PPE as needed to perform job functions
