Overview

Serves as a member of the Executive Team; responsible for system-wide leadership and supervision of the fundamental programs of Organ and Tissue Operations, Donor Resource Center, Inventory Control, Facilities Management, Organizational Authorization and Laboratory services ; participates in the planning and direction of all aspects of operational policies and initiatives, contributes to the development and implementation of key strategies and activities of the organizational Strategic Plan; shares in the responsibility for the attainment of short- and long-term organizational goals

Responsibilities

  • Support Gift of Hope’s mission, vision, and values; adhere to its policies and procedures in fulfilling the responsibilities of this position
  • Direct and oversee the activities and initiatives of the Organ Operations, Tissue Operations, Donor Resource Center, Inventory Control, Facilities Management, Authorization and Laboratory teams
  • Manage assigned staff including selection, job duties, training and development, mentoring, coaching, performance evaluation, recognition, promotion, disciplinary action and termination; hold direct reports accountable for staff development and competency
  • Function as an advisor to the President/CEO regarding key clinical operations and authorization across all associated departments responsible for requesting
  • Provide effective and timely communication to the President/CEO with any matters affecting operations
  • Provide strategic direction to assigned business lanes; work with senior leadership to identify and prioritize operational initiatives that tie to strategic goals
  • Develop strategies in response to changing operational conditions and new opportunities; provide direction to direct reports that will lead to successful outcomes
  • Oversee the development and implementation of effective strategies and processes to ensure departments achieve goals and objectives
  • Responsible for planning and oversight of all reporting departmental budgets

 

 

Clinical Operations (Organ Operations, Tissue Operations, Authorization, Laboratory)

  • Direct integration of organ, tissue, authorization, and laboratory services into an overarching performance expectation to maximize donation
  • Ensure operations policies, protocols, guidelines, and practices are in compliance with state, federal and organizational specific regulations (CMS, FDA, CLIA, ASHI)
  • Work collaboratively with CM/CO to ensure all hospital interactions with clinical operations staff is aligned with successful outcomes, as measured in customer and external partner satisfaction
  • Ensure the organization’s vision and mission are met on a daily basis, as measured by the organizational authorization rate, quality laboratory services provided, high-quality donor management, allocation/perfusion services and the successful recovery of organ and tissues for transplant

Donor Resource Center

  • Oversee strategic direction and tactical execution of all aspects of Donor Resource Center operations, including customer/external stakeholder satisfaction, problem handling, quality of service across all calls and solution design
  • Assess structure, execution and continuous improvement of service and initiatives across the Donor Resource Center

Facilities Management

  • Oversee strategic direction and tactical execution of all aspects of facilities management across all Gift of Hope facilities, including custodial services, maintenance, mechanical services and systems, electrical systems, waste management, engineering, energy conservation, selected outsourced services, and the preservation of the facility landscape
  • Oversee the implementation of any building plans; ensure established project priorities are executed on time and on budget
  • Oversee established scope, budget and administration of the design and construction of new buildings, and renovations in existing facilities

Inventory Control

  • Oversee strategic direction and tactical execution of all aspects of supply chain for Gift of Hope’s facilities, including inventory management, value analysis, and supply chain informatics and analytics

Organizational Board Participation

  • Attend and actively participate in quarterly Board meetings, representing areas of responsibility
  • Responsible for Advisory Board management; collaborate with VP, Organ Operations and Medical Director to manage the Board in a manner that promotes the success of donation and transplantation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Training Required

The following identifies the minimum education and training required to perform the essential functions of the job:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or Nursing; Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or Nursing preferred, or equivalent experience

 

Experience and Skills Required

The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job:

  • Minimum of 10 years professional management experience, including 5 years senior-level management experience
  • Exceptional record of leadership
  • Experience in organ and tissue procurement and/or transplantation, preferred
  • Aptitude in problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Resourceful and analytical with exceptional communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and public-speaking skills
  • Ability to delegate effectively and manage multiple business lines
  • Ability to retain confidential information
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office platform
