  • Overview

    Essential Functions

    The following essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.

    • Support Gift of Hope’s mission, vision, and values; adhere to its policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position
    • In conjunction with Volunteer Coordinator, coordinate a volunteer network of advocates for organ and tissue donation to participate in programs and public speaking opportunities
    • Monitor and analyze effectiveness of our volunteers
    • Develop and maintain relationships with select community, educational, religious, civic and social organizations to increase awareness of, and support for, organ and tissue donation
    • Develop and implement special events and programs to increase overall public awareness and increase registration rates in the communities we serve; foster participation by Ambassadors for Hope volunteer members and Gift of Hope staff
    • Liaison with and support Donation Coordinators to develop hospital community outreach programs for signature events and participate in donation committees
    • Identify new opportunities for awareness within selected, targeted communities
    • Contribute to the monthly newsletter, focusing content as it relates to area of expertise; assist in maintaining information on Gift of Hope websites

    Responsibilities

    Experience and Skills Required

    The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.

    • 3 years’ related experience in community relations or not-for-profit public relations, preferably in a healthcare environment
    • Experience coordinating volunteer programs
    • Experience developing community-based programs and events
    • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of audiences
    • Ability to influence support for organ and tissue donation
    • Intermediate skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • Ability to speak publicly before a wide variety of audiences to motivate and inspire others

    • Ability to drive personal car to various community locations within the service area to perform job functions
    • Ability to work outside normal business hours including evenings and weekends
    • Ability to lift and move 30 pounds
    • Ability to spend extensive time travelling across designated service area
    • Ability to use personal cell phone for business purposes

     

    Work Environment

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that will be encountered by an employee while performing the essential functions of the job.

    • Normal office environment
    • Extensive time spent outside the office with community leaders and at community events within the service area
    • Attendance at evening and weekend events throughout the service area

    Carry a personal cell phone to be accessible outside regular business hours

    Qualifications

    Education and Training Required

    The following identifies the minimum education and training required to perform the essential functions of the job.

    Bachelor’s degree in community relations, business, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
