    The Junior Accountant performs accounts receivable duties including coding, verifying, and posting accounts receivable, preparing analytical spreadsheets, collections, revenue reconciliations and filing and prepares bi-weekly payroll.


    The following essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.

    • Support Gift of Hope’s mission, vision, and values; adhere to its policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position
    • Prepare and review, in detail, the bi-weekly payroll
    • Review Lab invoices for correctness and follow-up with Lab Manager on discrepancies
    • Maintain log of lab tests; prepare journal entries to account for unbilled tests on exported/discarded kidneys
    • Prepare and review organ integration file prior to preparation of invoices and posting into the accounts receivable ledger; prepare invoices for delivery to customers
    • Prepare and review all tissue invoices
    • Maintain tissue inventory and final disposition of tissue cases
    • Reconcile tissue inventory monthly to external agency reports, if applicable
    • Code and post cash receipts, pull invoices and post to accounts receivable ledger
    • Prepare revenue reconciliations to agree to general ledger accounts monthly
    • Balance the accounts receivable aging schedule to the ledger monthly
    • Follow up on all overdue receivables and document all customer contacts, at minimum, semimonthly
    • Review outstanding receivables with Assistant Controller and/or CFO at least monthly
    • File invoices, receipts and follow-up documentation
    • Prepare monthly payment vouchers for managing surgeons, nephrectomy fees, and other surgeon fees by the end of the following month
    • Prepare invoices for surgeon fees billed to outside agencies for services provided by Gift of Hope’s surgeons
    • Participate in Receptionist Relief Team to provide coverage when the receptionist is unavailable
    • Provide back-up for Accounts Payable
    • Other duties as assigned


    Education and Training Required

    • High school diploma


    Experience and Skills Required

    The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.

    • 3 years’ accounting experience, or Associate’s degree with 1 year accounting experience
    • Intermediate skills in Excel; basic skills in Word
    • Good organizational skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively
    • Ability to work independently
    • Ability to retain confidential information
